| Name: | Andrew Fuller |
| Age group: | 35-39 |
| Occupation: | Accountant |
| When and why did you start doing triathlons: | 1990, at university some friends wanted to do a team triathlon so I did the run leg. After doing that I decided to do the whole triathlon next time around. |
| Most memorable sporting moment: | Roth Ironman triathlon, racing overseas is great, Germany has an incredible number of spectators making for a super atmosphere. The food and beers after the race there are also pretty special! |
| Greatest sporting achievement: | Getting 2nd in my age group at the triathlon world championships in 2009 at the Gold Coast, a lucky result but one that was great to be able to enjoy on home turf with my family and friends around. |
| Favourite training session: | Running intervals at UQ with the Fidler squad and Riding Intervals at the criterium track at Nundah with a bunch of mates. Friday morning coffee rides also deserve a special mention. |
| Favourite race: | Byron Bay, super location, the beach is great and the race is on a Saturday which leaves Saturday night free for plenty of post race hydration. |
| Strongest leg in triathlon: | Run |
| Individual PB’s in the past 2 years: | 1500 swim – 21 min 40k bike - 1hr 03 min 10k run – 35:30 min |
| Favourite sports person/s: | People inspire me that continue to do well at an elite level in sport when they are comparably older than the younger guys and have a number of competing priorities, like Greg Bennet in triathlon. |
| Your sporting goals: | Stay healthy and support my 3 boys in maintaining a balanced lifestyle. |
| Toughest course you have ever done: | I did an offroad triathlon in Hong Kong once, it was relatively short (15k cycle, 6k run, 1k kayak) but took me nearly 2hrs to do and I had some pretty spectacular crashes on the bike. |
| Craziest sports event you have done: | When I lived in London a group of us signed up for a 50 mile relay run in the countryside of Rotherham. We didn’t really consider our lack of map reading ability or the benefits of a headlamp if finishing after dark (and it does get dark early there in winter). We did finally finish and no-one was lost in the process thankfully. Needless to say I haven’t done one of these events since. |
| Favourite sports team: | Newcastle Knights NRL team |
| Favourite sports gear brand/s: | Asics |
| Favourite sports store: | Velo Cycles, the bikes are awesome to look at. |
